With wild quail coveys and abundant turkey and deer, John is excited about the property’s potential. “We saw two 12-pointers and a 14 feeding together about 300 yards behind the lodge two weeks ago,” Kronewitter says. “And I’ve been seeing 20-40 deer every day,” he continues. Additionally, Sunrise Outfitters’ staff has estimated about 30 different fawns on the property this summer based on visual surveys.

With whitetail potential like this, Kronewitter is developing a conservative hunting strategy designed for maximum hunter success this fall. “We’ve put up just five stands on the property’s best areas,” he says, which include six half-acre food plots. All stands are the two-man, “buddy” type. Additionally, Kronewitter and his staff plan to take all hunters to and from their stands with ATVs to avoid disturbing deer. “These deer are used to ATVs,” he says. “but can be spooked by hunters on foot.”

In addition to deer, Sunrise Outfitters will offer spring turkey hunts as well. “This property has a tremendous population of turkeys, as well,” says Kronewitter, adding that he and his guys have counted nearly 70 wild turkey poults on the property over the summer.

Sunrise Outfitters will encourage its limited number of turkey hunting clients to use ground blinds to avoid pushing the birds too hard during the hunting season. “With this many birds, we’ll keep track of them during the season and work with each client to make a game plan each day,” says Kronewitter, who believes such a strategy will result in happy turkeys and even happier turkey hunters throughout the spring season.

John will bring his many years of experience in managing upland game to Sunrise Outfitters as well, which will offer traditional guided and unguided hunts for pheasant and wild quail, in addition to European style driven and tower hunts for pheasants. Bring your own dogs or utilize the guides’ well-trained dogs. The Sunrise Outfitters staff will clean and prepare your birds’ for transport at the end of each hunting day.

Our Property

The Sunrise Outfitters land is full of mature white oak trees, and the back of the property runs up to a river bottom. On the other side of the river bottom is a farm with soybeans and corn, which enhances the hunting for deer and turkey.

Cynthiana, Kentucky is located just 45 minutes south of Louisville or Cincinnati, and two hours from Indianapolis, Sunrise Outfitters is an easy 20 minute drive of 1-75 at Georgetown, Kentucky.

For those hunting guests who prefer not to cook, a variety of restaurants and shopping options are only a 10-15 minute drive from the lodge in nearby Cynthiana, Kentucky. Several top-quality taxidermists and game processors are also located nearby to serve the needs of visiting hunters.
